Chilling/Draining the CFC

This might be the most important thing to get right. If you want to make sure that you've completely drained the CFC then you need to do the following:

  1. Put on a pair of gloves
  2. Ensure that the wort out end of the tube is lower than the safety-valve
  3. While the pump is still on, close the safety-valve
  4. Unscrew the hot-wort-in connection; a little may spill; practice with water during your cleanup phase
  5. Turn off the pump
  6. Allow the CFC to completely drain

Other tips and tricks

  • Remember that when you are chilling/draining you are performing a type of hopstand; you're recipe should reflect that
